FHA Culture of Safety Benchmarking Initiative

Florida hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers will report the AHCA Culture of Safety Survey results to the Agency starting June 1, 2025. Legislation passed in 2020 requires hospitals and ASCs to conduct the AHCA Patient Safety Culture Survey (based on the AHRQ Surveys on Patient Safety Culture plus AHCA-specific questions) every two years and report the results of those surveys at the unit and composite level to the state for public reporting.

The FHA Quality & Patient Safety Committee has been discussing how to support FHA members in preparing for this new reporting requirement. In addition to sharing best practices, educating about the requirement, the committee recommended we create a confidential, de-identified comparative database for FHA members. FHA has partnered with Beterra Health to offer this tool to those hospitals interested in participating.  Currently, 70 hospitals are working with Beterra Health to conduct their culture of safety survey and they have created a platform for non-Beterra clients to create the Florida comparative database.
