"On behalf of our more than 200 hospital members and their tens of thousands of health care workers, we thank Senator Brandes for filing legislation to provide strong COVID-19 liability protections. COVID-19 disrupted ordinary health care practice in countless ways. Clinical and regulatory guidance and recommendations changed almost daily, and hospitals, physicians, and nurses had to adjust quickly, all while working to ensure patient care was never compromised.

Hospitals and their staff need meaningful support and recognition of their frontline leadership role throughout the pandemic response. Key to that support is protection from lawsuits that seek to take advantage of the ever-changing nature of the crisis.
