Statement Below on Behalf of FHA Interim President Crystal Stickle
"Right now across our state, hospital and health system teams are working tirelessly to protect our patients, workforce and communities as we respond to the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19. The Florida Hospital Association deeply appreciates all our health care leaders who are on the frontlines every day. We see you and we thank you for all that you are doing to protect and care for our patients and communities.
The Florida Hospital Association commends Gov. DeSantis' actions today and his continued leadership to ensure all Floridians are safe. Yesterday, the FHA Board of Trustees voted to stand in support of postponing elective surgeries and procedures to ensure necessary resources remain available to protect our workforce.
The Board also expressed support for the American College of Surgeons' COVID-19 non-emergent procedure protocol to appropriately triage clinical decision making for elective surgeries and procedures, which aligns with the directives set forth by Gov. DeSantis today and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Our hospitals and health systems will continue to work closely with our physicians, clinical care teams and patients to ensure those in need of critical surgeries and procedures have access to safe, effective care."
