EDie: A Tool to Improve ED Throughput and the Opioid Crisis
Wednesday, June 13, 2018
12 p.m. - 2 p.m. | Pensacola, FL
Overview
The FHA and our member hospitals are focused on several high priority quality objectives including:
- Combating the opioid epidemic in Florida,
- Reducing readmissions,
- Positioning to better manage Florida Medicaid's emphasis on potentially avoidable ED utilization, and
- Preventing drug seeking patients from accessing medications.
The FHA Quality Committee researched and recommended a program being used by many of our peer organizations across the country that has had direct and meaningful impact against these stated objectives.
The program - referred to as EDie - is offered by Collective Medical Technologies. More than a dozen other hospital associations nationwide and the American College of Emergency Physicians endorsed and are promoting EDie, based on positive feedback, excellent results and high customer satisfaction. After executing its due diligence, the Quality Committee recommended to the FHA board that the Association endorse and promote adoption of this platform, which was unanimously approved. Additionally, the FHA negotiated discounts and economic incentives to participate in this program.
What is EDie and how does it work? So, what do you need to do?
FHA has scheduled several in-person, regional meetings to learn more about the EDie initiative, how it works and what your hospital(s) needs to do to get started. We hope that you, and designated members of your staff, are able to attend and to learn more about this important FHA-led quality initiative. Onboarding EDie is a very lightweight process-it can take just weeks, not months or years-and we greatly appreciate your willingness to make it a priority.
